What Is Paint Correction?
Most of the marks that make paint look dull sit in the clear coat, the thin, glossy top layer. Paint correction uses a machine polisher with a series of compounds and pads to level that layer, so light reflects evenly again and the color looks deep and sharp.
It usually takes two to three steps: a cutting compound to remove the defects, then finer polishing to refine the finish. That’s different from the one-step polish in our detail packages, which is made to boost gloss and soften light swirls.

What it can’t fix

Inspect
We check your paint under specialized lighting to find every swirl, scratch and spot, and pick the right approach.
Wash + Decon
A careful hand wash, then decontamination with a clay bar or chemical treatment, and a dry, clean surface.
Compound
Dual-action or rotary polishers with cutting compounds and pads remove the defects, pass by pass.
Polish + Refine
Finer polishes and pads take out the haze from cutting and bring up clarity and gloss.
Finish + Protect
A final polish for a mirror-like shine. Add ceramic coating or a sealant (available separately) to lock it in.

What’s the difference between the polish in a detail and paint correction?
Every OG PRO Exterior and Full Detail includes a one-step machine polish that boosts gloss and reduces light swirls. Paint correction is a multi-step process (usually two to three steps) that removes deeper swirls, scratches, oxidation and water spot etching.
Will paint correction remove every scratch?
It removes defects that sit in the clear coat. Scratches that go through the clear coat and rock chips can often be improved but not fully removed. We’ll point those out at the estimate so you know what to expect.
Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?
If you book a ceramic coating with us, it’s already included. Every OG Pro ceramic package includes a clay bar, decontamination and paint correction before the coating goes on. See ceramic coating.
Can you do paint correction at my home or work?
Yes. Our two mobile units carry their own water and power, so all we need is access to your vehicle and a spot to park next to it. You can also drop your vehicle off at our shop. We serve Walla Walla, College Place and the Tri-Cities; a travel fee may apply outside the Walla Walla area.
How do I keep my paint looking corrected?
The defects we remove are gone, but new swirls can build up from washing and daily driving. A ceramic coating protects the finish for years, and the OG Maintenance Club keeps it washed the right way on a set schedule.
